Meet Debbie Marino
What do you get when you cross a Campbell Realtor with a three-time national champion in water skiing?
A new home – with the help of a real estate broker whose life has taught her the value of teamwork, fair play, goal setting, and laser-like focus on all she does.
Debbie Marino understands that success doesn’t just happen – it takes hard work and experience
Is she competitive? Of course, but she suggests that the competition that has been most useful to her is that she has within herself – to be the best version of herself she can be.
Competition with others has value as well, and she will be the first to tell you that competing in professional sports taught her to manage her nerves – a skill that comes in quite handy during the sometimes-heated negotiations of the typical real estate transaction.
“It also taught me commitment,” Debbie said.
A lifetime spent in the pursuit of excellence in all she does
Debbie Marino was born in San Jose, CA and spent the first three years of her life there before the family moved to Campbell, where she has remained. “I grew up on Mc Bain Ave., then we lived on Bascom Ave (when it was a two-lane road), near the Pruneyard (which was an orchard at that time),” she recalls.
Although her dad owned a music school in Campbell, he was an avid water skier. In fact, all the Marino family members have won national championships for water skiing, practicing their skills every summer on Clearlake in Lake County.
“When we weren’t at Clearlake on weekends,” Debbie recalls, “we were practicing at Calero, even in the winter months with full wetsuits.”
Despite a full schedule of teaching music to children and skiing on the weekends, Mr. Marino found time for another passion: Real estate investing. Debbie would accompany him on his apartment rehabs, which led to her love of homes and their infinite possibilities.
Debbie attended nursing school and obtained her LVN license with an eye toward management. She worked as a nurse in the oncology unit at Good Samaritan Hospital and in family practice at San Jose Medical Center.
She did finally obtain a degree in business administration but, in true entrepreneurial style, decided to leave nursing and open her own bookkeeping business. Although she is now hands-off in the day-to-day running of the company, she still owns the über-successful A Reliable Bookkeeping Service, located in Campbell, California.
She is a Campbell Realtor and the broker/owner of Properties in Silicon Valley, devoted to helping real estate consumers sell their homes and investment properties in Silicon Valley.
Her clients rave about her tried-and-true custom marketing plans and absolute attention to every detail of the transaction. Most of all, they appreciate her responsiveness and her ability to explain the sometimes-complicated processes involved in selling real estate, whether a single-family home or a multi-family investment property.
